Story and characters
Confirmed Rockstar’s synopsis: when an easy score goes wrong, Jason and Lucia end up on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, caught in a criminal conspiracy that stretches across the state. Confirmed The Ultimate Edition’s items unlock chapter by chapter through their story, so the campaign is told in chapters.
Confirmed Jason Duval is an Army veteran raised among con artists who runs jobs for drug smugglers in the Leonida Keys and lives rent-free in one of Brian Heder’s properties. Confirmed Lucia Caminos was taught to fight by her father, landed in the Leonida Penitentiary fighting for her family, and came out determined to make only smart moves.

The state of Leonida
Confirmed Leonida, which the edition text calls the Goodtime State, has six regions so far:

Confirmed An Extended Look runs 26 minutes 48 seconds, captured entirely in-game on a PlayStation 5 according to Rockstar, and premiered on Netflix on August 27, 2026 before reaching YouTube. On screen What we verified on our own frames:

Editions and the pre-order bonus
Confirmed There are two editions, Standard and Ultimate. The Vintage Vice City Pack comes with every pre-order and every purchase before November 20: a ’55 Vapid Stanier with a garage near Ocean Beach, 1980s outfits and hair, and a palm-print weapon pattern. Digital pre-orders add a month of GTA+. Confirmed The Ultimate adds three headline vehicles, revolvers, engraved pistols, five exclusive shops, a gang raid and a car-restoration commission, all listed in the editions guide.
Music
Confirmed Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, announced September 17 with Atlantic Records, has 34 original tracks and comes out on November 19. Six singles are out, among them Travis Scott’s RHYNO, Morgan Wallen’s Last Thing You Need, Rauw Alejandro’s Macacoa 2000 and Keith Richards’s Bright Lights, Big City; the album file lists all six. Confirmed Rockstar promises more on “the next evolution of in-game radio”.
Reported, not confirmed
Reported Rockstar invited content creators to Rockstar North in Edinburgh before the Extended Look, an r/GTA6 thread of August 26 reports. Our read Nothing in this section is confirmed by Rockstar, and most of it is not visible in official footage.
TGG’s two hours at Rockstar North
Reported TGG watched developers play for about two hours. His account, as summarized on r/GTA6:
- Reported A Criminal Profile worsens with crime, though clean, professional crime does not raise it, and once its badge cracks it cannot be reversed.
- Reported A relationship between Jason and Lucia rises or falls: texts, dates and gym visits raise it, and they can hold hands.
- Reported Health, stamina and focus bars can be pushed past their limits with food and protein bars. Focus slows time and reveals weak points on people and vehicles.
- Reported Money splits into bank, cash and a duffel bag of loot. Cash can be lost on death or arrest, loot goes to a fence, and deposits are made at ATMs, not by phone.
- Reported Police no longer show on the minimap, search red circles below six stars and chase you map-wide at six. They know your appearance, car, weapons and whether you were with Lucia, and many vehicles, every police car included, carry trackers a fence or a Pay ‘n’ Spray can remove.
- Reported Cars need fuel, electric ones need charging, and aim assist replaces auto aim.
- Reported A separate r/GTA6 fishing thread relays TGG’s question to Rockstar North co-head Rob Nelson: fishing is catch and release only, while hunting pays through a character Jason knows.
El Rubius’s three hours
Reported El Rubius watched nearly three hours of play. His account, as summarized on r/GTA6:
- Reported Jewelry stores can be robbed outside missions. The 3D map valued one store’s loot at $15,000 to $40,000 and showed its entry points, and every gold bar, diamond and stack of cash is picked up one by one.
- Reported Rob Nelson walked Jason and Lucia through a fully explorable hotel and up its elevator to the roof with no loading screen, then stole a helicopter that happened to be there.
- Reported His build had no first-person view, which Nelson said has not been added “at the moment”.
- Reported He watched a shotgun blast take an NPC’s head clean off and doubted that gore would survive to release. A top reply in the same thread relays YouTuber Davy Jones saying the gore is toned down from Red Dead.
The Criminal Profile in the press
Reported PC Gamer and IBTimes UK, reporting on the Rockstar North preview led by Rob Nelson, name its states: Professional, Aggressive, Violent, Psycho and a permanent Shattered state. Jason and Lucia keep separate profiles, and self-defense is judged differently from a spree. Our read Accounts differ on whether that preview was hands-on.

- Reported Stephen Root told Vice on September 14 that he plays Brian Heder: “Yeah, you are going to see me in there. It’s coming out November 19.”
- Reported Game Rant counts 14 licensed songs in the Extended Look, from Pop Bottles at 0:06 to Inner Light at 25:44.
- Reported After the August leaks, Rockstar called them “heartbreaking for our team” and the game “nearly there”, with the date unchanged, according to Kotaku, PC Gamer and VGC.

The Extended Look shows the surface of what previews describe: a disguise slot, two money readouts, a scored course. It does not show the rules behind them, so until Rockstar shows the Criminal Profile or the trackers, we file them as well-sourced previews.

When does GTA 6 come out?
Confirmed On Thursday, November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Digital pre-orders can pre-load from November 12.
Is GTA 6 coming to PC?
Confirmed No PC version has been announced. Our read Rockstar’s last two big games reached PC 13 to 19 months after their console launch.
Can you play as both Jason and Lucia?
Confirmed Yes, both are playable leads. Reported Red Bull’s Extended Look coverage says you can switch between them at any time.
How big is the GTA 6 map?
Confirmed Rockstar has not said. Reported TGG and El Rubius both relay about three times Red Dead Redemption 2’s map, and TGG adds twice GTA V’s.
How long is the story?
Reported About 80 hours for the main story and some side goals, according to an r/GTA6 thread of August 27; preview coverage traces the figure to a Rockstar North developer, and Rockstar itself has not published one.
