| Date | What happens |
|---|---|
| June 25, 2026 | Pre-orders open worldwide at midnight local time |
| November 12, 2026 | Digital pre-load starts; the boxed edition goes on sale |

1. Choose your edition
Confirmed There are two. The Standard Edition is the game. The Ultimate Edition adds the ’95 Grotti Cheetah, the Shitzu Squalo boat, the ’67 Vapid Dominator Buggy, a pair of revolvers, engraved pistols for both leads, outfits and tattoos, five shops that only open for its owners, a raid on the PTT Youngin$ and a car-restoration commission, all unlocked chapter by chapter through the story. Our editions guide lists every item.
Our read If you only want the story, the Standard Edition is enough: the pre-order bonus comes with both.
2. Pick digital or the box
Confirmed Both editions are sold digitally or as a boxed download code. The box holds a code, not the game on a disc, and it goes on sale on November 12 so its buyers can pre-load too.
Confirmed Rockstar lists the free month of GTA+ for digital pre-orders. GTA+ is its GTA Online membership: a monthly GTA$500,000 deposit, Shark Cards with 15% bonus GTA$, free and discounted GTA Online vehicles and the GTA+ games library. Our read If that month matters to you, pre-order digitally.
3. Place the pre-order
Confirmed Pre-orders opened worldwide at midnight local time on June 25, 2026. You can order from the PlayStation Store or the Microsoft Store, from rockstargames.com/VI, or from a retailer.
Confirmed GTA 6 is announced for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only, and no PC version has been announced. Our read Order the version for the console you will play on.
4. Claim the Vintage Vice City Pack
Confirmed The pack comes with every pre-order of either edition and every purchase made before November 20, 2026. Rockstar says it flashes back to when the neon burned brightest:
- Confirmed ’55 Vapid Stanier, a two-tone classic sedan pitched for cruising Shore Drive, with the Shore Court personal garage near the Ocean Beach sand, which has a weapon locker and a secure place to leave stolen goods to be fenced.
- Confirmed Outfits and hair: a pastel linen suit and a 1980s cut for Jason, a red sequin mini dress and curls for Lucia.
- Confirmed Weapon pattern: a tropical print for most guns, based on Tommy Vercetti’s palm-tree shirt.
Reported The garage’s stash for stolen goods fits TGG’s account of the economy: loot carried in a duffel bag has to be taken to a fence, and cash on you can be lost on death or arrest.
Our read The cut-off makes launch day, November 19, the last day to buy a copy and still get the pack.
5. Pre-load from November 12
Confirmed Digital pre-orders can start downloading on November 12, 2026, a week before launch. The boxed edition goes on sale the same day, so boxed buyers can redeem their code and pre-load too.
Our read Let the console do it overnight. On PS5, turn on Settings, System, Power Saving, Features Available in Rest Mode, Stay Connected to the Internet; on Xbox, check Settings, General, Power options, Sleep. Leave the console in rest or sleep mode on the night of November 11 and it can start the download on its own.
6. Make room on your drive: how many GB is GTA 6?
Confirmed Rockstar has not announced the install size. Our read Keep at least 150 GB free to be safe: Red Dead Redemption 2 needed over 100 GB on consoles. Reported TGG and El Rubius, who both watched developers play GTA 6, relay a map about three times the size of Red Dead Redemption 2’s. That is the size of the map, not of the download.
7. Play on November 19
Confirmed Launch day is Thursday, November 19, 2026, and Rockstar has not announced a launch time. Our read Recent Rockstar console launches unlocked at midnight local time, and GTA 6 pre-orders themselves opened at midnight local time around the world. Expect the same for launch, but it has not been promised.
Is November 19 safe?
Confirmed The date has moved twice already: Trailer 1 in December 2023 promised 2025, a delay on May 2, 2025 set May 26, 2026, and on November 6, 2025 Rockstar moved the game to November 19, 2026. Reported After footage leaked in August 2026, Rockstar called the leaks “heartbreaking for our team”, said the game was “nearly there” and kept the date, according to Kotaku, PC Gamer and VGC. Our read With a pre-load date set and the soundtrack album booked for the same day, November 19 looks firm.
Pre-ordering the album too
Confirmed Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, 34 original tracks made with Atlantic Records, also comes out on November 19. It can be pre-saved on streaming services, and limited vinyl and CD sets are on pre-order: a liquid-filled vinyl, a splatter vinyl and a CD jewel case sold only at gtavi-thealbum.com, plus retailer vinyl colors at Blood Records, Best Buy, Walmart, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Target and Urban Outfitters. Reported An r/GTA6 thread of September 18 spotted a new Jason artwork as a poster exclusive to Target’s vinyl.
Our read
Our read Only one date can cost you anything: order or buy before November 20 to keep the Vintage Vice City Pack. Pre-order digitally and you also get the GTA+ month and a full week of pre-load, so launch night is only a matter of waiting for the unlock.
