The small print
Privacy policy
What this site knows about you, which is very little, and who else is involved.
Leonida Now is an independent fan publication about Grand Theft Auto VI. Reading it requires no account, and the publication itself sets no cookies. This page explains what is stored where, and by whom, when you read the site, use the community boards or write to the desk. It was last revised on September 29, 2026.
Reading the site
The pages at leonidanow.com are static files. When your browser requests one, the server sees what every web server sees: your IP address, the page requested, the time, and the browser and device type you use. That information is handled by Cloudflare, which serves and protects the site, and is used for security, for rate limiting and for keeping the site up. Cloudflare's own handling of it is described in its privacy policy.
The weather desk keeps one small copy of the latest Vice City weather in your browser's local storage, so the sky is already right when you open the next page. It holds weather numbers and a timestamp, nothing about you, and it never leaves your device. If the live weather cannot be fetched through the site, your browser may ask the United States National Weather Service (weather.gov) for it directly.
Analytics
Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views. It uses no cookies, no local storage and no fingerprinting, and it does not follow you to other sites. It tells the desk which pages are read and roughly where in the world readers are, by country.
Advertising
This site uses Google AdSense to show advertising. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and to other sites on the internet. Google's use of advertising cookies, including the DoubleClick cookie and the advertising ID on mobile devices, lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and others.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings.
- How Google uses information from sites that use its services is explained at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
- Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are shown a consent message before any personalized ad is served, and can change their choice through that message.
Ads are marked as ads. The desk does not choose the advertisers, does not see who clicks, and never writes a story to please one. An ad on a page says nothing about the evidence stamp on that page.
Embedded video
Official trailers are embedded from YouTube through its privacy-enhanced player (youtube-nocookie.com), which does not set tracking cookies until you press play. Once you play a video, Google's terms and privacy policy apply to it.
The community boards
The boards at forum.leonidanow.com are the one part of the site that has accounts. Joining is optional. When you sign up, the boards store:
- Your email address, used to confirm the account, to send a password reset when you ask for one and for notices about the account itself. It is not shown to other members and is not sold or shared for marketing.
- Your username, the avatar you pick from the site's own set, your level, badges and reaction history, and everything you post. Threads, replies and profiles are public.
- Your password, stored only as a salted hash. The desk cannot read it.
- A session cookie that keeps you signed in. It holds a random session id and its signature, nothing else, and is removed when you log out. Logging out everywhere ends every session at once.
The sign-up and login forms are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which tells bots from people, usually without a puzzle; Cloudflare's privacy policy covers it. Verification and password reset mail is sent through Resend, a transactional mail service. To limit abuse the boards count actions per network address and per account for short windows (an hour or less); those counters are not kept beyond that. A draft you are still writing is saved in your own browser's local storage for a week so a closed tab does not lose it, and is cleared when you post.
Posts are checked by the site's own filters before they appear, and the moderation log records what was blocked, held or removed and by whom. To close your account, or to have a post taken down, write to the desk at the address below; the desk will confirm the request from the address on the account.
Writing to the desk
Mail to desk@leonidanow.com is received by Resend and forwarded to the desk's mailbox. It is kept as long as the matter it concerns is open, and is used for nothing else.
Children
Grand Theft Auto VI is rated for adults. This site is not directed at children under 13, and the boards do not knowingly accept accounts from them. If you believe a child has created one, write to the desk and it will be removed.
Your choices
- Block or clear cookies in your browser. The publication works without them; the boards need the session cookie to keep you signed in.
- Turn off personalized ads at Google's Ads Settings, linked above, or through the consent message if you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland.
- Ask the desk what the boards hold about your account, have it corrected, or have the account closed.
Changes
When this policy changes, the revision date at the top changes with it. Substantive changes are announced on the boards.
