Key facts

  • Confirmed PC version: not announced.
  • Confirmed Platforms: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, from November 19, 2026.
  • Confirmed Best on: the official site says the game plays best on PlayStation 5.
  • Confirmed Footage: Rockstar says Trailer 2 and An Extended Look were both captured in-game on a PlayStation 5.
  • Confirmed Precedent: Grand Theft Auto V reached PC about 19 months after its console launch, Red Dead Redemption 2 about 13 months after.

Is GTA 6 coming to PC?

Confirmed Not announced. Every official Rockstar page and announcement, the June 2026 pre-order announcement included, lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only, and the official site says the game plays best on PlayStation 5. Our read That is not the same as never: Rockstar’s last two big games also launched on consoles first, and both reached PC later.

Everything official points to consoles

Confirmed Rockstar says Trailer 2 (May 6, 2025) and An Extended Look (August 27, 2026) were captured entirely in-game on a PlayStation 5.

On screen The Extended Look’s interface shows PlayStation buttons throughout: Hurry on circle and Lucia on L2 at an apartment door at 07:09, the item wheel’s Weapons and Items tabs switched with R1 at 17:52, and the cross button beside the first choice in the fridge menu.

Confirmed Pre-orders, open since midnight local time on June 25, 2026, cover the two consoles, in a Standard and an Ultimate Edition, each sold digitally or as a download code in a box.

How Rockstar handled PC before

Confirmed Rockstar’s two previous big releases came to consoles first:

Game Console launch PC launch Gap
Grand Theft Auto V September 2013 April 2015 About 19 months
Red Dead Redemption 2 October 2018 November 2019 About 13 months

Our read If GTA 6 followed the same pattern, a PC version would arrive between about December 2027 and June 2028, 13 to 19 months after November 19, 2026. Nothing is confirmed, and Rockstar has given no sign either way.

The console date moved twice

Confirmed GTA 6 itself slipped before it settled: Trailer 1 (December 4, 2023) promised 2025, a delay on May 2, 2025 set May 26, 2026, and on November 6, 2025 the game moved to November 19, 2026. Reported After footage leaked in August 2026, Rockstar called the leaks “heartbreaking for our team”, said the game was “nearly there” and kept the date, according to Kotaku, PC Gamer and VGC. Our read With the console version delayed twice, we do not expect any PC news before November 19.

What you can do on PC now

  • Confirmed Watch the footage: the Extended Look (26:48) premiered on Netflix on August 27, 2026 and went up on YouTube and rockstargames.com at 9 p.m. Eastern that day. Both trailers are on the official site.
  • Confirmed Hear the music: six singles from Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album are out, and the 34-track album can be pre-saved on streaming services for November 19.
  • Reported Follow it on Spotify: r/GTA6 threads in mid-September spotted GTA VI banners on Spotify and a GTA VI account there.
  • Confirmed Read the official pages: Rockstar’s People and Places pages cover Jason, Lucia, the supporting cast and the six regions of Leonida.

Can I play it on a PC screen at launch?

Our read Only by streaming from a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S you own, through the console maker’s remote play feature. No official PC route exists.

If you are weighing a console

Confirmed The Xbox listing reads Xbox Series X|S, which takes in both the Series X and the Series S, and the official site says the game plays best on PlayStation 5. Every pre-order, and every purchase made before November 20, 2026, includes the Vintage Vice City Pack, and digital pre-orders can pre-load from November 12.

Our read Buying a console now means launch day and the pre-order bonus. Waiting for PC means a gap of more than a year if Rockstar repeats its pattern, with no word on whether the bonus would ever reach PC. Our guides to pre-ordering and pre-loading and to the editions cover the console route.

What is still unknown

  • Confirmed Whether and when: Rockstar has not announced a PC version or a date.
  • Our read System requirements: none can exist before an announcement.
  • Our read Carry-over: nobody knows whether a later PC version would include the pre-order bonus or accept console saves.

Our read

Our read Plan on a console if you want to play GTA 6 this year. Rockstar’s record says a PC version is likely in time, but the same record puts it a year or more after the console launch, and Rockstar has said nothing about one yet.
