Overview

Confirmed Rockstar describes the Grassrivers as a primordial expanse where you never know what is under the surface: a vast, ancient wetland of sawgrass, swamp and wildlife. The alligators are the famous attraction, but the official text warns of deadlier predators and weirder finds among the mangroves, and says people come here to race through the mud.

Confirmed The region’s one named town is Watson Bay, where the Ultimate Edition keeps its ’67 Vapid Dominator Buggy, a car Rockstar calls “a Mud Club monster”.

What the stills show

• On screen Still 01: three mud-caked hunters, one of them a woman, on an airboat whose fan cage reads Airgator Airboats, Airboat 09. A dead alligator lies at their feet and a dead wildcat on the seat, below a No Trespassing sign.
• On screen Still 02: a town built on pilings over green water, with umbrellas on the restaurant decks and a boat heading out. The water tower reads WATSON BAY, a skyline stands far off to the left and smokestacks rise on the right.
• On screen Still 03: an airboat among lily pads, alligators around it, shot from straight above.
• On screen Still 04: a police helicopter and patrol car chase a pickup through the swamp, an airboat behind them and an alligator in the water.

Watson Bay

Confirmed Watson Bay is where the Ultimate Edition keeps the ’67 Vapid Dominator Buggy, at the Paradise Garage, which has a weapon locker and a secure place to leave stolen goods to be fenced. See Watson Bay.

Reported The community map labels the stilt-town still Watson Bay and pins it in the west of the Grassrivers, and our state map carries that pin.

In the trailers and the Extended Look

• On screen Trailer 2 includes an airboat at 2:18.
• On screen In the Extended Look, birds wheel around a street mural before the next shot follows an airboat through a wetland (17:07 to 17:13), and the activity montage shows airboats traveling through wetlands.
• On screen Alligators turn up outside the swamp too: at 0:47, Trailer 1 shows a store’s security camera catching one.

Hunting and the police

On screen The hunters in still 01 and the alligator strung up in the 2026 screenshot are the clearest signs that hunting reaches the swamp.

Reported According to TGG, who put the question to Rockstar North’s Rob Nelson, as relayed in an r/GTA6 thread, hunting earns money through a character Jason knows, while fishing is catch and release only.

On screen The police follow you in: still 04 has a helicopter and a patrol car in the swamp, with an airboat close behind.

Our read The Grassrivers are Leonida’s Everglades, the wetland west and south of Miami.

Our read The Grassrivers are not empty swamp. The stills show a working town on pilings with its own water tower, an airboat business, a hunting camp and police at the water’s edge, and in two of them a city skyline sits on the horizon, most likely Vice City’s. The wetland is the city’s back yard, close enough to see its towers.

Can you hunt alligators in GTA 6?

On screen Rockstar’s own still shows hunters with a dead alligator. Reported TGG says hunting pays through a character Jason knows.

Where is Watson Bay?
