Vice City: GTA 6 Location

Overview

Confirmed Vice City is Leonida’s big city and the heart of GTA 6. Rockstar says it is a long way from the 1980s but still the sun-and-fun capital of America, and describes it as the glamour, hustle and greed of the country in a single city.

On screen It was the first place the game showed: Trailer 1 is set almost entirely in and around the city, its beaches, clubs and highways framed as social media clips filmed by residents.

Confirmed The official Vice City text names four areas and what each is known for:

Confirmed The pre-order and Ultimate Edition text adds four more names. Southside is home to the PTT Youngin$. Shore Drive is the road the ’55 Vapid Stanier is pitched for cruising and the ’95 Grotti Cheetah is called an ode to. Washington Beach is where the Shitzu Squalo is docked, and Stockyard is home to Stock 305 and Electric Fang Tattoo.

Our read Only Southside is put in Vice City in so many words. The Stanier comes with a garage by Ocean Beach, Washington Beach shares its name with a district of the 2002 Vice City and Stock 305 carries Miami’s 305 area code, so we file all four under the city until Rockstar says otherwise.

What the stills show

On screen Still 01: a jet with its landing gear down passes low over the giant Vice City letters at dusk.

On screen Still 09: dirt bikes and ATVs under an overpass whose pillars are painted with murals, each with one big letter (P, E and R are in frame). Road signs point to route 10 and Interstate 97 beside a North 561 county road shield.
Confirmed Still 03: Rockstar’s caption mentions a basketball court among the palm trees and buildings.
On screen 2026 screenshots: a downtown tower with MEGAMUNDO lettered at its base beside a Ferris wheel, and two twisted towers on a waterfront point.

Our read The painted letters in still 09 fit the community’s La Perle name, and the To 97 shield in the same still backs its Interstate 97 label. Trailer 2 times are the frame numbers at 30 frames a second.

In the trailers and the Extended Look

On screen Trailer 1 (December 4, 2023): a shoreline aerial at 0:11 and a beach crowd at 0:22.
On screen Trailer 2 (May 6, 2025): the NINE1NINE club’s exterior, rope and sign between 1:39.7 and 1:40.8, the sign reading NINE1NINE Vice City, then Lucia in a sequin dress against a spiral wall (1:40.8 to 1:42.4). At about 2:06 a crowd dances on a street corner under the Dominion Hotel sign.
On screen An Extended Look (August 27, 2026): a drive through city traffic past a large bus and onto a waterfront bridge (08:50 to 08:58), Lucia’s base jump from a tower over Vice City (18:48), an aerial of lit districts and high-rises at dusk (25:46) and a rooftop pool (25:48).
On screen The Extended Look’s Megamundo job puts Jason and Lucia on different floors of the same skyscraper (23:22 to 24:27). Our read The tower lettered Megamundo in a 2026 Vice City screenshot is the likely building.
Reported Engadget places a pedestrian left hanging off a bridge after reckless driving at 8:58, and Sportskeeda says the Extended Look ends at a Megamundo opening where the pair work security and things go wrong.

What players spotted

Reported GameSpot and Dexerto reported fans matching a building under Lucia’s base jump to the apartment block from the TV series Dexter. On screen At 18:51.6, directly below her, is a long block with exterior walkways and a round stair tower at one end. Our read That proves the shape, not the intent.
Reported Postmode lists a Vice City FM ad on a phone box among its Extended Look details.
Reported In the r/GTA6 thread on Rockstar’s new screenshots of August 27, a commenter who called himself a Miamian wrote that it looks so much like home.

What previews reported

Reported According to TGG, who watched developers play at Rockstar North for about two hours, Vice City is about twice the size of Los Santos. The same summary says Vice City and its surroundings are 11 times bigger than Los Santos and its surroundings.

Our read We do not use the 11x figure, because it is unclear what it measures. Twice Los Santos is the number to test at launch.

History

Confirmed Vice City was the setting of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (2002), set in 1986, and returns in GTA 6 in the present day. The Vintage Vice City Pack’s pastel suit, sequin dress and palm-print weapon pattern, based on Tommy Vercetti’s palm-tree shirt, are nods to that era, and the Ultimate Edition’s revolvers come “from the Vercetti Estate”.

Our read

Our read Vice City is where Rockstar has named the most and shown the most, and its stills fill gaps the text leaves: a beach police force, an Interstate 97, a Megamundo tower. The VICEBEACH livery suggests the beach island is policed as a town of its own, which would explain the community’s Vice Beach name alongside Rockstar’s Ocean Beach. Rockstar has confirmed neither reading.
