Overview

Confirmed Rockstar’s Leonida Keys still of two scuba divers surrounds them with aquatic life, which Rockstar’s own description lists as coral, fish, an eel and a sea turtle.

On screen The Extended Look adds a dive of its own: a fully equipped diver exploring what looks like an underwater cave.

Key facts

  • Confirmed Where: the reefs off the Leonida Keys.
  • Confirmed Named by Rockstar: coral, fish, an eel and a sea turtle.
  • On screen Also visible: purple sea fans and tube sponges on the reef.
  • On screen Activities: scuba diving in the Keys still and the Extended Look, and fishing from a boat in the Extended Look.

The official still

On screen Light falls through clear blue water onto a reef. A sea turtle glides across the foreground, a long greenish eel swims out from the coral on the left, and schools of small fish drift around the two divers above. The reef is thick with purple sea fans, orange coral and tube sponges.

In the Extended Look

On screen The Extended Look’s activity montage includes a scuba sequence in which a properly equipped diver explores what appears to be an underwater cave system, alongside airboats, swimming, jet skis and kayaks.

Reported Postmode lists a marine-park sign reading We Saved Makenzi From The Ocean among its Extended Look finds. Our read We have not located the sign on our own frames.

Fishing

Confirmed Rockstar pitches the Ultimate Edition’s Squalo for casting in Gambit Bay and reeling in catches of all sorts. On screen In the Extended Look, Jason, Lucia and Brian fish from a boat at 25:52.

Reported According to an r/GTA6 thread relaying TGG’s question to Rob Nelson of Rockstar, fishing is catch and release only, so a catch cannot be kept or sold.

The real reef

Our read The Leonida Keys reef is Rockstar’s version of the one off the real Florida Keys.

Reported NOAA says Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, designated on November 16, 1990, protects 4,539 square miles of water around the Keys, including North America’s only coral barrier reef. It is home to more than 6,000 species of marine life, and its beaches are nesting habitat for endangered Atlantic green and loggerhead sea turtles.
