• On screen The Keys boat party: boats are tied up together off the Keys, and a man floats on a pink flamingo float between them while jet skis run in the background. Confirmed Rockstar’s description of the still singles him out.
• On screen The kitchen (07:18): in the Extended Look’s home sequence, the pink kitchen wall carries a painted flamingo. It is the kitchen where Jason opens the fridge between 07:14 and 07:24, choosing from Logger Beer, Lavazas Beer and Blitz smoothies.

The real bird

Reported The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service says the American flamingo is the only flamingo native to North America, and that its pink comes from carotenoid pigments in its food. Young birds start out white or gray and turn pink within about two years on a diet of brine shrimp and blue-green algae.

Reported Audubon Florida says flamingos once lived and bred in Florida before they were decimated in the 19th century and their habitat shrank as the Everglades were drained. The Fish and Wildlife Service adds that Hurricane Idalia blew a flock off course to Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge in September 2023.

Our read That history makes the flamingo a fitting emblem for Leonida: far more common on floats and murals than in the wild, in Rockstar’s version as in the real state.
