Fleeca Bank

Overview

On screen Fleeca Bank appears twice in An Extended Look. A round Fleeca Bank magnet is stuck to the fridge in Jason and Lucia’s home (07:14 to 07:24), and a Fleeca frontage turns up in the masked getaway after the strip-mall robbery (about 18:04 to 18:13).

Confirmed Fleeca is the bank chain from GTA V, and GTA Online’s first heist, the Fleeca Job, robs one of its branches.

On screen The magnet belongs to the Extended Look’s evening at home, when Jason opens the fridge and chooses from Logger Beer, Lavazas Beer and two Blitz smoothies. Around it on the door are a Polaroid of a small black-and-tan dog in a pink collar, a photo of friends on a beach, a pink sticky note and red magnets.

In the getaway

On screen The robbery sequence runs from 17:51 to about 18:13. The item wheel opens over a parked red convertible, Lucia walks up to Zekes Gadgets with a bandana over her face at 18:00, a close-range fight at a jewelry counter follows, and the getaway combines a carried duffel bag, a Fleeca frontage and an escape on a motorcycle. The clip shows no transaction at the bank and does not reveal what is in the bag.

Banks and money

On screen At 17:51.6 the item wheel shows two sums side by side: $15,150 beside a purple symbol and $700 beside a green wallet-like icon.

Reported TGG, who watched developers play at Rockstar North, says money comes in three kinds: a bank account, cash on hand and the value of the loot in your duffel bag. Cash can be lost on death or arrest, loot has to go to a fence, and cash cannot be deposited by phone: it has to go through an ATM.

Confirmed Robbing banks is a career in Leonida. Rockstar introduces Raul Bautista as “a seasoned bank robber always on the hunt for talent”.

Our read

Our read The name is a pun on “fleece”, to swindle someone out of their money, and the magnet shows Fleeca as the kind of everyday bank that hands out freebies. The two readouts at 17:51.6 fit TGG’s split between a bank balance and cash in hand, but Rockstar has not said which bank holds the balance.
