Overview

On screen Zekes Gadgets is the electronics and repair shop in the middle of the strip mall where An Extended Look stages its store robbery. At 17:53 its blue lettering sits over a “We Do Repairs” banner, and at 18:00 Lucia walks up to its glass door with a bandana over her face and a pistol in her right hand.

The strip mall

On screen Zekes sits between Video Forever, bank owned with “Store Closing!” across its window, and a Spanish-language pawn shop whose sign reads “Casa de Empeño $$$ Joyería Empeños”. The pawn shop’s window strips promise best prices, watches, phones, gold and silver and “Open 7 Days”, and its cards offer instant cash for gold, silver, diamonds, watches and rings.

What previews say about robberies

Reported El Rubius, who watched nearly three hours of play, says jewelry stores can be robbed outside story missions, and that the 3D map showed one store holding loot worth $15,000 to $40,000, along with entry points to plan the heist.

Reported TGG says the robbery system is very extensive, that money comes as bank, cash and duffel-bag value, and that anything in the duffel bag is loot that has to be taken to a fence.

Our read

Our read Lucia walks into Zekes masked and armed, but the next shot is a fight at a jewelry counter, and the pawn shop next door calls itself a joyería, a jewelry store. The montage leaves open whether the take comes from Zekes, its neighbor or both. Two closing-down signs in three shops, and a repair shop cutting prices on phones, are Rockstar’s shorthand for a strip mall on its last legs.
