Blitz smoothies

Overview

On screen Blitz is a smoothie brand stocked in Jason and Lucia’s fridge in An Extended Look. When Jason opens the fridge, between 07:14 and 07:24, the menu lists Logger Beer, Lavazas Beer, Blitz Berry Smoothie and Blitz Green Smoothie. Only the two smoothies carry icons: a green lightning bolt and a purple eye.

Our read Those icons are the first on-screen sign that what Jason and Lucia drink changes their stats.

Key facts

• On screen Products: Blitz Berry Smoothie and Blitz Green Smoothie.
• On screen Icons: a lightning bolt in a green circle and an eye in a purple circle beside each smoothie. The two beers above them have none.
• On screen Packaging: a green bottle with kiwi slices and the Blitz name on its label, on the shelf behind the menu.
• On screen Where: the kitchen of the home Jason and Lucia share.
• On screen When: 07:14 to 07:24 in the Extended Look.

In the Extended Look

On screen The fridge sits in a stretch of playable downtime. Jason waits for Lucia to get ready for drinks with Brian Heder, walks through the house, opens the fridge, picks from the menu and is next seen holding a drink; later he watches commercials on the television. The pink kitchen wall around the fridge carries a flamingo mural (07:18).

On screen The fridge door holds a Fleeca Bank magnet, a second bank magnet read in the desk’s frame review as LomBank, a Polaroid of a small dog and a beach photo. Inside, beside the Blitz bottle, are a cow-print carton and a tub of salted butter.

What the icons mean

Reported TGG, who watched developers play at Rockstar North for about two hours, says the HUD has three bars at the top left, health, stamina and focus, which can be raised temporarily and permanently. According to his notes as summarized on r/GTA6, food, consumables and protein bars can push them past their limits, and protein shakes from gym vending machines give a stamina boost that lets Jason and Lucia do more reps.

On screen An eye symbol also appears in the HUD in the office firefight at 25:12 to 25:26, while enemies are highlighted.

Our read So the lightning bolt reads as stamina and the eye as focus: a Blitz smoothie tops up the two bars you spend running and aiming.

What players said

Reported The fridge scene drew realism complaints on r/GTA6, and by September 2 they had become a running joke. In a thread about aloe vera plants bursting when hit by a car, top replies mocked them with “what about the FRIDGE”, and one noted that anyone who raised the fridge scene’s lack of realism had “unplayable” thrown back at them.

Our read

Our read Two stat icons on a smoothie make the home fridge a place to top up, not only set dressing, and TGG’s report that consumables can push bars past their limits gives Blitz a job. The menu shows no price and no hint of where the smoothies come from, so whether the fridge has to be restocked is still open.
