Safehouses and garages

Overview

Confirmed Two garages have been described so far, both as bonuses: the Shore Court personal garage near Ocean Beach, from the Vintage Vice City Pack, and the Paradise Garage in Watson Bay, from the Ultimate Edition. Rockstar says each has a weapon locker and a secure place to deposit stolen goods to be fenced.

Confirmed Jason Duval lives rent-free in one of Brian Heder’s properties, in return for helping Brian with local shakedowns and stopping by for Lori’s sangria now and then.

Reported TGG, who watched developers play at Rockstar North, says there are safehouses and garages all over the map.

Key facts

• Confirmed Shore Court: a personal garage a stone’s throw from the Ocean Beach sand, with the ’55 Vapid Stanier (Vintage Vice City Pack).
• Confirmed Paradise Garage: in Watson Bay, with the ’67 Vapid Dominator Buggy (Ultimate Edition).
• Confirmed Both garages: a weapon locker and a secure stash for stolen goods to be fenced.
• Confirmed Jason’s safehouse vehicles: his Vapid Ganado pickup, plus an Army-green Dinka Enduro and a Crest Kayak in the Ultimate Edition.

Jason’s safehouse

On screen The Ultimate Edition screenshot of Jason’s safehouse shows a weathered stilt house on the water. A yellow pickup is parked beside it, a dirt bike and an orange kayak sit underneath, and a man stands on the deck.

Confirmed Rockstar’s bio places Jason in the Leonida Keys, working for local drug runners and living in one of Brian’s properties. Brian runs a boat yard with his third wife, Lori.

Our read The stilt house in the screenshot is most likely that property, but Rockstar has not said so in as many words.

Home life in the Extended Look

On screen The Extended Look spends two minutes at Jason and Lucia’s home (06:24 to 08:17). Jason brings clothes to the bedroom while Lucia gets ready for cocktails with Brian, a door prompt offers HURRY or LUCIA (07:09), the fridge opens a menu of Logger Beer, Lavazas Beer and two Blitz smoothies (07:14 to 07:24), and the TV plays commercials. The pink kitchen wall carries a flamingo mural (07:18), and the fridge door holds Fleeca and LomBank magnets, a Polaroid of a small dog and a beach photo.

On screen They leave through a carport in a red convertible (08:00 to 08:17). Later, a basketball shot passes a weathered stilt house on the coast (17:12 to 17:17).

Stolen goods and fences

Reported TGG says anything in your duffel bag is loot that has to be brought to a fence, and that cash on hand can be lost on death or arrest. He also says vehicle trackers can be removed at a fence.

Our read A garage stash for stolen goods to be fenced fits that loop: the garage is where loot waits between the robbery and the sale.

How players reacted

Reported Under the Target vinyl poster thread (September 18), the top reply wondered whether Jason keeps his house for the whole game or moves around, as in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Our read

Our read Rockstar has sold two garages as bonuses before launch, which suggests property is a real part of the game rather than a menu. The home in the Extended Look, with its fridge menu and TV, is built for time between jobs, not just saving and changing clothes.
