Starlet Motel

Overview

Confirmed The Starlet Motel is the first of Rockstar’s five Port Gellhorn stills, officially described as “The outside of a motel in Port Gellhorn with the vacancy sign lit up at night.”

On screen The name is on the sign: “Starlet” in lit script over “Motel”, under an arrow lined with bulbs.

Key facts

• Confirmed Where: Port Gellhorn, which Rockstar calls “Leonida’s forgotten coast”.
• On screen Sign: Starlet Motel, with “Vacancy” lit in red neon.
• On screen Offers: “King Size Beds”, “Low Rates”, “Pool & Wifi”.
• On screen Office: a second neon sign reading “Motel” over the lobby.

What the still shows

On screen Under the palms, the motel pool sits behind a fence with a striped umbrella and loungers. A green off-roader is parked in the lot with a woman in red beside it, next to orange traffic barrels. At the lobby, a woman in pink leans against a pillar while another crouches, pointing a phone light at a gray tabby cat, and birds perch along the top of the sign.

The town it serves

Confirmed Rockstar’s Port Gellhorn text opens with motels: “Cheap motels, shut-down attractions, and empty strip malls won’t bring the tourists back, but there’s a new economy in this once-popular vacation spot.” That economy, it says, is “fueled by malt liquor, painkillers, and truck stop energy drinks”.

Confirmed The town’s other official stills show the Delights cabaret’s parking lot, two men in a room full of grow lights, a woman handing a package through a car window and a bonfire party.

Our read

Our read The Starlet is the “cheap motel” of Rockstar’s text made visible: low rates, a lit vacancy sign and nobody checking in. Whether a motel room can serve Jason and Lucia as a place to lie low is not known.
