Reported A commenter in the r/GTA6 thread about the game’s Spotify account pointed out that Bright Lights, Big City is a cover of a 1961 Jimmy Reed song, a new recording rather than a new song.
Vinyl, CD and a Target poster
Confirmed Three editions are sold only on the album’s own site, gtavi-thealbum.com: a liquid-filled vinyl, a splatter vinyl and a CD jewel case. Retailers including Blood Records, Best Buy, Walmart, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Target and Urban Outfitters carry their own vinyl colorways.
Reported An r/GTA6 thread on September 18 showed a new piece of Jason artwork that comes as a poster with Target’s version of the vinyl. One commenter noted he wears the same outfit as in Trailer 2.
Reported Players went through the new artwork closely. One thread spotted that Lucia’s ankle monitor sits on her left leg in the album artwork but on her right in a second new piece, and another gathered the new images, some only at low resolution because they had to be cropped from the album covers.
The Spotify run-up
Reported The day before the announcement, an r/GTA6 thread shared images of Spotify teasing GTA 6 collaborations, credited to Kurro on X. It drew 9,717 points, and one reply joked: “We gonna get the GTA 6 soundtrack before GTA 6”.
Reported A second thread collected the Spotify banners. Commenters noticed that they carry no GTA or Rockstar logo, only the art, down to a huge iguana. One wondered whether some in-game radio stations would reach Spotify before launch, or whether Spotify itself would be in the game.

Confirmed Trailer 1 (December 4, 2023) was set to Tom Petty’s “Love Is a Long Road”, and Trailer 2 (May 6, 2025) to “Hot Together” by The Pointer Sisters.
Reported Game Rant counts 14 licensed songs in the Extended Look, from Pop Bottles at 0:06 to Inner Light at 25:44, with People Are People playing on a car radio at 8:21.
Confirmed Rockstar says more is coming on the game’s dynamic score and “the next evolution of in-game radio”.

Our read The album sits beside the licensed music rather than replacing it. The Extended Look alone used 14 licensed songs, so we expect the stations to mix both, with the album’s tracks as the new material.
