GTA 6 reportedly tracks how you commit crimes with a Criminal Profile
Previews from Rockstar North describe a Criminal Profile that grades how Jason and Lucia commit crimes, from Professional to Psycho, with a Shattered state that cannot be undone. Rockstar has not shown it.
Overview
Reported Previews from Rockstar North describe a Criminal Profile: a lasting record of how Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos commit crimes, kept apart from the wanted level that follows a single chase. PC Gamer and IBTimes UK list its states as Professional, Aggressive, Violent and Psycho, then a final Shattered state in which the profile icon cracks and cannot recover.
On screen Rockstar has not shown it. No profile screen appears anywhere in the 26 minutes 48 seconds of the Extended Look.
Key facts
- Reported States: Professional, Aggressive, Violent, Psycho, then Shattered (PC Gamer, IBTimes UK).
- Reported Point of no return: in the Shattered state the icon cracks and the profile cannot recover.
- Reported Two profiles: Jason and Lucia each keep their own.
- Reported Context counts: self-defense is judged differently from a killing spree.
- Reported Reported by: YouTuber TGG on August 27, then PC Gamer and IBTimes UK in September, all describing what was shown at Rockstar North.
- On screen Shown by Rockstar: not yet. The Extended Look has no profile screen.
Where the reports come from
Reported An r/GTA6 thread on August 26 relayed that content creators had been invited to Rockstar North in Edinburgh the month before. The next day YouTuber TGG published his notes: according to the r/GTA6 summary, he was shown the Extended Look early, watched developers play for about two more hours and met the studio’s head developers.
Reported PC Gamer and IBTimes UK base their accounts on the Rockstar North preview led by the studio’s co-head, Rob Nelson. Accounts differ on whether that preview was hands-on: TGG and El Rubius, who watched nearly three hours, both describe watching developers play rather than playing themselves.
What the profile reportedly tracks
Reported TGG, as summarized on r/GTA6, calls it an “honor like” system. The more crime you commit, robbery or killing, the worse the profile gets. Being a good criminal, meaning not getting caught and working like a pro, does not count against it.
Reported He says a tab shows the stat as a badge, drawn cracked once the profile gets really bad, and that once it reaches that state it cannot be reversed.
Reported PC Gamer and IBTimes UK add the names of the steps and two rules: Jason and Lucia keep separate profiles, and context matters, so self-defense is not judged like a spree.
How it differs from the wanted level
Reported TGG describes the police and the wanted level separately from the profile. Police no longer show on the minimap. Below six stars, a small dark red circle marks the crime search area inside a larger red one, and a six-star level, hard to reach, brings a chase across the whole map.
Reported Police reportedly know your appearance, your car, your clothes, the weapons you hold and whether you were with Lucia. Many vehicles carry trackers, every police car included, and a fence or a Pay ‘n’ Spray can remove them. TGG’s advice is that changing vehicles and appearance is the best way to lose the police.
What the Extended Look shows
On screen Rockstar’s video shows the kinds of crime a profile would judge, without any meter. Masked robberies around 11:32 run with a wanted-star row on screen, the crew burns its getaway car and switches to a van at 15:58, and at 18:00 Lucia walks up to Zekes Gadgets with a bandana over her face, eight seconds after the item wheel shows it in a face slot.
On screen In the office firefight around 25:11, Jason’s view changes, an enemy is highlighted in blue and an eye icon sits in the HUD.
Reported Engadget’s list of Extended Look details notes red hit points for lethal shots and yellow ones for disarming.
Jason and Lucia keep score too
Reported TGG describes a second system, a relationship between Jason and Lucia that can rise or fall. Texting, dates and even gym sessions together raise it, and the two can hold hands while roaming.
Reported El Rubius says leaving Jason or Lucia behind in a shootout might make them mad, and that the relationship can later affect how cooperative and efficient they are in heists. In his session Lucia flew off in a stolen helicopter, leaving Jason behind after a heist, and he texted her: “Hey, aren’t you forgetting something?”
Violence: the accounts conflict
Reported El Rubius says he watched Rob Nelson shoot an NPC in the head with a shotgun and the head came off completely, and he was not sure that level of gore would make the final game. A top reply in the same r/GTA6 thread said Davy Jones had again described the gore as toned down from Red Dead.
What players make of it
Reported The most upvoted reply under the TGG thread predicted that, with a bad profile reportedly permanent, many players will struggle to get a good ending.
Our read No preview we have read connects the profile to the ending. That link is the community’s worry, not a report.
Our read
Our read The reports agree on the shape: a long-term record for each lead, judged with context, with a point of no return. They do not say what moves a profile from one state to the next, whether anything brings it back before Shattered, or what a Psycho profile changes in Leonida.
Our read Professional at the top of the list fits TGG’s line that clean, uncaught crime does not worsen the profile, so a quiet robbery, masked and without bodies, should be the way to stay there. Separate markers for lethal and disarming hits would give the game what it needs to tell those styles apart.
Our read We keep the Criminal Profile at Reported until Rockstar shows the tab. The Criminal Profile file tracks what is known.
Questions
Has Rockstar confirmed the Criminal Profile?
Reported Not yet: it comes from TGG, PC Gamer and IBTimes UK, reporting on Rockstar North’s preview. On screen The Extended Look shows no profile screen.
Can a Shattered profile be repaired?
Reported Every account so far says no. PC Gamer and IBTimes UK call Shattered permanent, and TGG says the cracked badge cannot be reversed.
Does killing in self-defense count against you?
Reported Not in the same way: the reports say self-defense is judged differently from a spree, and TGG says crime done like a pro, without getting caught, does not worsen the profile.
Is it Red Dead Redemption 2’s honor system again?
Reported TGG calls it “honor like”, but PC Gamer’s headline says it is not a direct copy of Red Dead’s honor system. Our read The reported states measure how you commit crimes, not whether you are a good person, and that is the difference.
