Overview

Reported The Criminal Profile is a system described in preview coverage of GTA 6 that records how Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos commit their crimes, not just whether the police are after them right now. PC Gamer and IBTimes UK, reporting in September 2026 on the Rockstar North preview led by co-head Rob Nelson, give it five states: Professional, Aggressive, Violent, Psycho and a final, permanent Shattered state.

Reported The YouTuber TGG, who watched developers play at Rockstar North, described the same system in his account of the visit, summarized on r/GTA6 on August 27.

On screen Nothing labeled Criminal Profile appears in the Extended Look.

Key facts

  • Reported Five states, in order: Professional, Aggressive, Violent, Psycho, Shattered (PC Gamer, IBTimes UK).
  • Reported Shattered is permanent: the profile icon cracks and cannot recover (PC Gamer, IBTimes UK). TGG says that once the profile reaches that state, it cannot be reversed.
  • Reported Two profiles: Jason and Lucia each keep their own (PC Gamer, IBTimes UK).
  • Reported Context counts: self-defense is judged differently from a killing spree (PC Gamer, IBTimes UK).
  • Reported Where it lives: a tab of its own, showing the stat as a badge image (TGG).

How it works, by TGG’s account

Reported According to TGG, the Criminal Profile is an “honor like” system. The more crime you commit, robbery and killing among it, the worse your profile gets. Being a good criminal, which he describes as not getting caught and being a pro at crime, does not make it worse.

Reported TGG says the stat sits on its own tab with a badge image. If the profile gets really bad the badge is shown cracked, and once it reaches that state it cannot be reversed.

The five states

Reported PC Gamer and IBTimes UK list the states in this order: Professional, Aggressive, Violent and Psycho. Beyond Psycho sits Shattered, the only state described as permanent: the icon cracks and the profile cannot recover. IBTimes UK’s headline calls it an irreversible state beyond Psycho.

Our read The names describe a style of crime, not a level of guilt. A player who robs cleanly stays Professional, a player who shoots first moves down the scale.

Not Red Dead’s honor system

Reported PC Gamer’s headline says the system is not a direct copy of Red Dead Redemption 2’s honor system, even though TGG calls it “honor like”. A magazine feature quoted in an r/GTA6 thread on August 26 makes a related point about Jason and Lucia’s relationship, saying the player’s choices “can have repercussions that cut much deeper than Rockstar’s previous titles or ‘honour’ systems that reward conscientious game playing”.

Our read The reports describe a record of how you commit crime rather than a good-versus-evil meter. Working clean does not count against you, and the last state is one-way.

What the Extended Look shows

On screen No screen, tab or badge named Criminal Profile appears in the 26:48 video. Its combat HUD does carry an eye icon, and at 25:11 an enemy is highlighted in blue during an office firefight.

Reported Engadget describes hit points in the Extended Look marked red for lethal and yellow for disarming.

Our read If a disarm and a kill are marked differently on screen, the game can tell them apart, which a profile that judges context would need. No report ties the two together; that link is ours.

How the previews were run

Reported Coverage of the Rockstar North preview differs on whether it was hands-on. TGG says he watched developers play for about two hours, and El Rubius, who watched nearly three hours, describes Rob Nelson at the controls for parts of it.

Criminal Profile and the wanted level

Reported TGG describes the wanted system separately: red search circles, up to six stars, and police who remember your appearance, car, clothes and weapons. See wanted level and police.

Our read The wanted level is the chase in front of you. The Criminal Profile is the record that follows each character afterwards.

How players reacted

Reported The top reply under TGG’s summary (1,469 points) worried that, with a bad profile supposedly permanent, many players will struggle to get a good ending.

Our read No report links the profile to the ending. That is the commenter’s guess.

Our read

Our read Two separate, permanent records would make Jason and Lucia’s play styles matter for the whole game, not just for one chase. Until Rockstar shows the tab, the states and what they change stay Reported, and nobody has yet said what a Shattered profile actually costs you.
