Welcome to Vice City lettering goes up on a Miami arena roof, eight weeks before GTA 6
Aerial photos on r/GTA6 show Welcome to Vice City lettering, with a pink VI, going up on scaffolding on a Miami arena roof. Commenters argue over who it is for: planes, TV cameras or no one.
Overview
Reported On September 22, u/PenExotic2859 posted three aerial photos to r/GTA6 under the title “Vice City Sign happening Now, Miami”. They show lettering on the flat roof of a round arena on the Miami waterfront: “Welcome to” on one frame, and “Vice City” in pink script with a pink VI on a second, both mounted on metal scaffolding with workers beside them.
Our read The script and the VI are GTA 6 branding, so this is almost certainly marketing for the game, eight weeks before its November 19 launch. No one in the thread links it to an announcement, though, and Rockstar has said nothing about it, so its purpose and its final placement are still open.
Key facts
- Reported Posted: September 22, 2026, three aerial photos on r/GTA6 by u/PenExotic2859.
- Reported The lettering: “Welcome to”, and “Vice City” in pink script with a pink VI.
- Reported Where: the roof of a round arena on the Miami waterfront, with a causeway to the port behind it in the first photo.
- Reported Stage: unfinished, the letters fixed to scaffolding frames with workers on the roof.
- Reported Live view: one commenter says the work is on a livestream, and another names a YouTube stream of the port to search for.
What the photos show
Reported The first photo looks down on the roof from above. The “Welcome to” board sits on its own frame, and the “Vice City” script with the VI on a larger frame beside it. Behind the arena, a causeway runs out over the water to a port lined with cruise terminals and cranes.
Reported The third photo pulls back to show the whole arena, a white drum with the lettering small on its roof, and the downtown skyline and the bay behind it. The second is a phone screenshot of a video of the same roof, with downtown towers behind it.
Our read The white, round arena beside the port causeway matches the Kaseya Center, the Miami Heat’s arena on Biscayne Bay, though no one in the thread names it.
Who the sign is for
Reported Most of the thread argued about who will ever see it. One reply said it is for people flying into Miami, not for anyone on the ground. Another answered that it faces the wrong way for that, since the airport lies to the west and the board says welcome, and a third said planes rarely pass where a passenger could read it, and would see it upside down if they did.
Reported The likeliest audience, one commenter suggested, is television: broadcasts of Miami Heat games cut to aerial shots of the arena and the city every game, and a reply added that the NBA season is about to start.
Reported Others doubt the placement is final. One commenter expects the sign to be raised to the edge of the roof, looking out, and another claimed it splits in two for a roof that opens, which a reply rejected: this arena’s roof does not open.
What the thread made of it
Reported Not everyone liked it. The longest comment calls the placement odd, the scaffolding ugly and the whole thing unfinished-looking, and says no one on the ground will see it. Another commenter asked for a bridge that has been under construction for nine years to be finished first, and a third predicted the lettering will show up in map apps if it stays long enough.
Context
Our read Our files treat Vice City as Rockstar’s Miami: Ocean Beach is Miami Beach, Little Cuba is Little Havana, and VC Port matches PortMiami, the port behind the arena in the first photo.
Confirmed Rockstar bills VC Port as the cruise ship capital of the world, and GTA 6 comes out on Thursday, November 19, 2026, for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Our read
Our read A Welcome to Vice City sign on the Heat’s arena, above the port Vice City’s own is modeled on, makes the most sense on camera, which is why the television explanation convinces us more than the planes. Until Rockstar or the arena says what it is for, treat its purpose and its placement as unconfirmed.
