GTA 6 PEGI details say cocaine can be used at any time
PEGI’s removed GTA 6 rating said cocaine can be carried and snorted directly from a character’s hand at any time, a more specific gameplay detail than the earlier drug warning.
Overview
Reported PEGI’s removed Grand Theft Auto VI classification included a more specific drug mechanic than the rating summary we covered on October 4. The October 2 entry said players can keep cocaine in their inventory and snort it directly from a character’s hand at any time, according to the PEGI text preserved by PC Gamer and other outlets.
Reported PC Gamer reported the wording on October 6 after PEGI had deleted the listing. Polygon also focused on the “at any time” detail, while discussing what consequences Rockstar might attach to drug use. PEGI itself did not describe addiction, stat changes, relationship effects or any other consequence for taking cocaine.
Key facts
- Reported Any-time use: PEGI’s removed rating said cocaine can be carried by the player and consumed directly from the character’s hand at any time.
- Reported Inventory item: The PEGI description said illegal drugs can be used directly from the player’s inventory and characterized drug use as frequent and prominent.
- Reported Rating removed: PEGI published the GTA 6 listing on October 2 and later removed it. Our October 4 report covered the missing page and its broader warnings for violence, drugs and sexual material.
- Reported No stated effect: Neither the PEGI text supplied in these reports nor PC Gamer’s account says what cocaine does mechanically after Jason Duval or Lucia Caminos uses it.
- Reported November launch: GTA 6 is due on November 19, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, leaving about six weeks between these reports and release.
The new detail is when the player can use cocaine
Reported Our earlier story already covered PEGI’s references to cocaine, realistic bloody violence, decapitation, dismemberment, intercourse, fetish material and interactive private dances. The new point being circulated on October 6 is narrower: the regulator’s description did not limit cocaine use to a mission, cutscene or fixed location. It said the player can carry it and take it directly from the hand at any time.
Reported PC Gamer treated that wording as evidence of an actual player-controlled system rather than background drug references. The outlet also noted that PEGI described drug use as frequent and prominent, but the rating did not explain which playable character can use cocaine, how much can be carried or whether police and civilians react to it.
Polygon goes beyond the rating, but those effects are speculation
Reported Polygon argued that Rockstar could make drug use affect body weight, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos’ relationship, missions or reactions from people nearby. Those ideas are Polygon’s speculation, not details from PEGI or Rockstar.
Reported Polygon connected that speculation to other reported systems in GTA 6, including body changes tied to food, exercise and sleep. Our appearance and fitness page covers those reported body systems separately. Nothing in the PEGI description says cocaine interacts with them.
Our read The useful distinction for players is control versus consequence. PEGI’s wording supports the idea that cocaine can be selected and consumed during ordinary play, but it does not tell us whether that action changes health, stamina, appearance, wanted behavior or access to missions.
The rating also described violence, sex and animal harm
Reported PC Gamer says the removed PEGI entry described bloody violence with a high degree of realism, including weapons capable of detailed decapitation and dismemberment. It also referred to nudity, intercourse, fetish scenes and private dances where the player can move a character’s hands onto a dancer’s breasts or buttocks.
Reported Push Square reported two other parts of the deleted assessment. It said players can harm animals, although their injuries are less detailed than injuries to people, and that GTA 6 contains frequent strong language plus discriminatory language in some television and radio material.
What Rockstar has not explained
Our read Rockstar has not publicly explained the cocaine system in the material supplied for this story. We do not know which inventories can hold drugs, whether Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos have different reactions, whether use is animated differently by location, or whether carrying cocaine creates any risk during police encounters.
Our read The wording also does not establish a wider addiction system. Until Rockstar describes one or reviewers can test the final game, treating relationship penalties, body changes or mission locks as GTA 6 features would go beyond the evidence.
Context
Reported This is a follow-up to our October 4 report on the removed PEGI rating. That story established that PEGI had briefly rated GTA 6 at 18 and listed cocaine, graphic violence and sexual material before the page disappeared.
Our read The timing matters because GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026. Drug trafficking is already part of Jason Duval’s reported background through Brian Heder, while the Extended Look puts Jason and Lucia inside Raymond’s drug lab. The PEGI text is the first detail in these reports that describes cocaine as something the player can apparently trigger freely during gameplay.
Our read
Our read Our read is that the “at any time” wording is the part worth separating from the rating story we already published. It turns a general content warning into a specific interaction: cocaine appears to be an inventory item the player can actively use outside a fixed scripted moment.
Our read The reports do not establish what happens afterward. Polygon’s ideas about addiction, relationships and body changes are plausible design possibilities, but none of them belongs in GTA 6’s feature list yet.
